Jazz at the fallen angel: sarah jane eveleigh
Enjoy an afternoon of jazz with live musicians and singers in an intimate setting.
Born and raised in Manchester, jazz vocalist and songwriter Sarah Jane Eveleigh moved to the south of England to study a diploma in performing arts and developed her stage craft playing her own compositions in London venues and working as a vocalist in high end function bands before returning to her first love of jazz. Respected for her passionate delivery and interpretations of American Songbook standards Sarah is a gifted storyteller who brings a level of style, accuracy and class to her performances.
Hugh Turner is a superbly accomplished and prolific musician, and is recognised individually as one of the region's finest jazz guitarists. With a playing style steeped in the blues he combines elements of jazz and funk to create a sonically exciting soundscape that fizzes with power, groove and stunning musicality. Hugh’s music appeals to a wide range of audiences from jazz aficionados to lovers of raw, musical energy. His performances have been a huge success at jazz clubs and music venues throughout the UK for over two decades.
Together, Sarah Jane and Hugh will present a varied and exciting programme of jazz, Latin and swing repertoire.

NICOLAS MEIER TRIO AT THE LOGIN LOUNGE
Join us for an afternoon of live jazz courtesy of the talented Nicolas Meier Trio, celebrating music from around the globe including the Latin American rhythms of Samba, Bolero, Tango and, of course, jazz!
Nicolas Meier has carved a reputation out as one of the world’s most original and uniquely talented guitarists. Drawing from a love of Turkish, Eastern & Middle Eastern music, Flamenco, Tango and more — all mixed with jazz — Meier’s versatility and musical fluency extends well beyond that (… so much so, that his considerable talents drew the attention of rock guitar legend, Jeff Beck, who made Nicolas a mainstay in The Jeff Beck Group — carrying him on two world tours during the course of the last several years!).
Eric Ford is on drums who , as well as being part of world renowned jazz trio, Partikel, is an in demand drummer and percussionist playing with several artists in recent years, including Clare Teal, Pee Wee Ellis and Jason Rebello as well as many festivals across the globe. "...exquisitely subtle drumming, superbly delicate” – All About Jazz
Marianne Windham, the founder of Guildford Jazz and a well-respected and in demand player, completes the line-up on double bass.

ALICE ZAWADZKI & ROB LUFT LUNCHTIME SERIES
Loosely connected to the jazz world but realistically inhabiting her own realm, Alice Zawadzki is a vocalist, violinist, songwriter and composer based in London, with considerable repute as “a genuine original” (The Guardian), and a distinctive and individual presence on the creative European music scene. Alice’s rich musical background and “whimsical hyper-creativity” (MOJO Magazine) create a sound which draws upon her early exposure to New Orleans jazz and gospel with the legendary Lillian Boutté who took Alice under her wing and on tour as a teenager, an extensive classical training as a violinist, and a continuous exploration of improvisation, poetry, and folk music from diverse traditions, “all propelled in a voice of velvet suppleness and gutsy emotional power” (The Arts Desk).
Rob Luft is an award-winning 29-year-old jazz guitarist from London whose virtuosity has been compared to that of six-string legends John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia. He was the recipient of the 2016 Kenny Wheeler Prize from the Royal Academy of Music, and he also received the 2nd Prize in the 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition at Montreux Jazz Festival. His debut album, “Riser”, was released on Edition Records in 2017 to widespread acclaim from the European jazz media. John Fordham wrote in The Guardian that it’s a “very sophisticated debut, but given Luft’s old-soul achievements since his early teens, we should have heard it coming”..
